End of March

We were lucky with our weekly walk at  Moulton yesterday as although a bit overcast the rain did not arrive until just after midday when we were on our way home.
Today it has been dry but very windy and sadly that has taken most of the blossom from the flowering cherry trees which is a shame as they look such a picture.

27th March

Well it has been unseasonably warm this last few days - a shock to the system today when it returned to normal!
Was lovely weather for our Health Walk at Moulton on Wednesday.
 Our Happy band of walkers

just a shame I'll no longer be able to join them after May due to the bus I use to get there being axed.
We passed a really pretty garden and a clump of Daffodil and Celandine

Back home my Bank of Violets is looking well - I just wish you could catch the right colour with a camera!

A walk around our Village yesterday

So nice to see all the trees in blossom now!

Monday 21st First day of Spring

Sunday 20th March

Took a walk down to Boat Ownership Show at Braunstheld, held annually at Braunston Marina - this year under new management.    Caught up with a couple of old friends - rest of afternoon I spent in the garden.

18th March

Lunch with 3 very good friends today to celebrate a Birthday followed by a haircut and some time in the garden.
Sun came out at Lunchtime which cheered everyone up - remarkable how much better a little sunshine can make you feel.  Even cats!

16th March

Saw my first bee this year obviously taking advantage of  the sunshine.
Digging is the order of the day now and ongoing compost making.
My Cinneria is still doing well (kept in a cool place which seems to suit it)

Saturday 12th

I've had one fly in the house buzzing around this week and seen the first moth in the house.
also first shy violets are appearing - I've so many odd violet plants around the allotment for some reason at the moment and rather than getting rid of them I'm trying to make a violet Bank under the grape vine as there are quite a number of them there already.

Wednesday

Check up at Dentists yesterday after Country Market - all clear for another 6 months.
Health Walk today in Daventry after a very heavy shower of rain - stayed dry during and after walk though, just as well as I had put a line of washing out  and Braunston got away with just a few spots.  We did spot some bluebells in flower in the churchyard of Holy Cross among hordes of snowdrops.
More ladybirds!! at least they all seem to be our native  7 spot ones.

Friday

Grade 4 Health Walk yesterday  -  up and around Borough Hill - sun came out about 11.30 which made it all the more enjoyable.  Minor hiccup when my sole became almost detached from the upper of my Walking Shoe!! (Had been wearing them for an hour or more! - managed to get a couple of rubber bands from a helpful cafe employee for which many thanks!  enabled me to complete walk!)    Managed a hour or so in the garden afterwards - ladybirds seem to be everywhere
a collage of just a few I came across.

March now

Health Walk at lunchtime and a walk round Daventry Country park afterwards when Sun came out!
It always feels like spring is definitely around the corner when daffodil flowers begin to emerge
as you can see more Aubretia flowers are opening every day.
I do love my Blackbird   (thanks to my friend Ann)  it looks so real!
Just hope my cat Tommy doesn't think so too!!
