Memories

Grass verges covered in Dandelions at the moment, I love to see them.  It always reminds though of when I was 6 years old and at Convent school in Finchley,  N.London. My mother for some reason had been held up coming to collect me and I was wandering up and down the lane outside the convent, waiting for her, (what were the Nuns doing letting me you wonder!) the verges were covered with Dandelions - eventually when she still didn't arrive I walked up to the bus station and caught the bus home (it was the usual journey we made) I suppose at that time, as now,  children travelled free and it was a Conductor who came round giving out tickets probably thought I was with whoever I was sitting next to.    By the time I arrived home my parents were as you can imagine in a state of panic (at that time they were running a radio shop in New Southgate) but I can't remember if I got told off or not!!

Interesting that  a just over a century  ago the King of Norway was so impressed with Dandelions on a visit to this Country, never having seen them before,  that on his return home he had crate loads shipped over and Norway is now awash with Dandelions too.

6th April

Magnolia trees are magnificent just now
12 turned up for the Walk in Moulton (we nearly didn't, due to bus having broken down!).
Beautiful day - turned out to be hottest April day on record - in Northampton there were quite a few things going on

Sunday 3rd April

Managed to get washing dry today in the wind - rain clouds arrived later in afternoon.
Walked through the fields this afternoon.

Saturday 2nd April

I found this in the Bath - a Queen wasp do you think?
No window open so where it came from?

April 1st

First of my Braunston Walks today - 10 Walkers turned up, bless them - weather cloudy and overcast in the morning turned into sunny intervals and all seemed to go off well.  We finished up with 5 of us having coffee, tea and ice cream at Poppies Tea Rooms , so a good result all round.
